The story

A police officer’s decision to keep cocaine found after a crash entangles him in a dangerous struggle involving drug dealers, his partner, and his family.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film’s story begins before the episode “Among Enemies”: The two police officers Erich Kessel and Mario Diller are keeping two drug dealers under surveillance late one evening. After a wild chase, the dealers are involved in a car crash. One of them, Jamel, manages to escape and is pursued by Diller, while Kessel finds a bag containing 30 kilos of cocaine in the wrecked car beside the other dealer, who is dying. He keeps the drugs for himself, planning to sell them later to pay for treatment in the United States for his daughter, who has epilepsy, and at the same time save his crumbling marriage. This puts him between the police and the drug dealers. René Novak wants the “stuff” back, but the police also assume that more than a meeting between dealers must have been going on that evening. After the search for Jamel succeeds, he is arrested, and Diller learns about the missing cocaine. To keep his friend and colleague from being exposed, he lets Jamel go, but immediately confronts Kessel. Kessel only asks him, for his daughter’s sake, not to ruin the deal; after all, he already has enough problems, since a court order forbids him from entering his house. His wife had obtained the order after he beat her severely during an argument. During their ongoing disputes, Jamel manages to kidnap the couple’s eight-year-old son. He demands that Kessel hand over the bag of cocaine, but Kessel is not willing to give it up so easily. A gunfight breaks out during the confrontation with Jamel, and a middleman is killed. Kessel’s son is released, but Jamel takes the bag with him. Because of the gunfight, Kessel now has to face an internal investigation and is even remanded in custody because he is considered a flight risk. While Diller tries to protect him, their superior, Epstein, is convinced that Kessel is playing a double game. But he can prove it only if Jamel confirms his suspicions, since Diller will not betray his colleague. The search for Jamel is stepped up, but René Novak, the man behind him and the ultimate owner of the drugs, gets there first. He catches Jamel with the bag of cocaine and shoots him. This clears Kessel, because Jamel had the gun used to shoot the middleman on him.
