Full plot (contains spoilers)
In a few quiet shots, the film tells of a farewell. Because she no longer wants to live, Kerstin, who is seriously ill and in her mid-sixties, stops eating and drinking. Her daughter Juliane, in her mid-thirties, accompanies her on this journey. She talks with friends about the situation again and again and witnesses her mother’s palliative care. She endures watching people say goodbye to her mother and experiences a slow farewell of her own. This brings the two women to a profound physical and emotional closeness, leading up to Kerstin’s death, which both of them have longed for.
