The story
Jim and Jeff are two adventurers hoping for a big break, but their attempt to strike oil in Colombia ends with them drilling into a rival company’s pipeline and fleeing angry pursuers. Broke again, they accept a job from Giovanni Telli, a junior boss in the spaghetti business, who wants to buy a golden Madonna kept at a local monastery. Meanwhile, the nuns must part with the treasured statue to raise money for a planned children’s hospital. A crook named Banausis and his accomplices also target the Madonna, while Jim and Jeff’s repeated trouble with the authorities delays their arrival at the monastery.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Jim and Jeff are two adventurers always searching for the big break and success, stumbling from one mishap into the next along the way. When they think they have struck oil in Colombia, it turns out they have merely drilled into an underground pipeline belonging to a rival oil company. Once again, they have to flee from furious pursuers. Broke again, the two buddies gladly accept an offer to help Giovanni Telli, the junior boss of a Milanese spaghetti manufacturer, buy a golden Madonna that is currently in a local monastery. They already know Giovanni from *Dschungelmädchen für zwei Halunken*. At the airport, not only Jim and Jeff are waiting for the wealthy Italian, but also Sister Andrea from the monastery. On the airfield, Giovanni immediately slips her a substantial sum of money—$5,000—as a down payment. But he misses his two buddies, Jim and Jeff, because, after spotting two policemen at the airport, they once again have to flee from the authorities for past offenses. During their escape, the brawling buddies are constantly getting into fights with various pursuers. Meanwhile, at the monastery, the Mother Superior has gathered her fellow sisters and gives them the painful news that they must part with their treasured Madonna, the “Golden Catarina.” They need a great deal of money to build the planned children’s hospital. At the same time, a sailing yacht approaches the Colombian coast. On board is the crook Banausis, who has also set his sights on the Madonna. Yolanda is with him; at the airfield, disguised as Sister Andrea, she had already swindled Giovanni out of the $5,000, since she too is a crook. With the women aboard Banausis’s yacht, she goes to the remote monastery and pretends they have just survived a plane crash, so the young women are allowed inside. Their plan is to steal the Golden Madonna once they are in the monastery. The women lock up the real nuns and put on their habits, and then the crime boss Banausis arrives as well. But the three adventurers, Jim, Jeff, and Giovanni, gradually make their way to the monastery too. A diamond ring on “Sister Yolanda’s” finger and the painted toenails of the “Mother Superior” quickly alert Jim and Jeff that something is fishy about the “nuns” at the monastery. An endless brawl follows in the monastery garden between Jeff and Jim and the crime boss’s henchmen. Then a bishop arrives as well. In the meantime, Banausis has made off with his fake nuns and the Golden Madonna. Everyone is staying at Señor Olivares’s hotel, and he knows exactly what a valuable cargo Banausis and his women are carrying. He invites everyone to his hacienda, where they can wait during a fiesta for the plane that is supposed to take the gangsters and the Madonna out of the country. The hotel owner invites Jim, Jeff, and Giovanni to the party at his hacienda too. As Banausis, Yolanda, and her girls drive off with the Golden Catarina to the Olivera hacienda, Jeff and Jim hastily have a wooden fake Madonna made, because they have a plan. They want to swap the new Madonna for the old one at the farm and trick Banausis. While Jeff distracts the woman guarding the Madonna with an intense kissing attack, Jim, who is tall and powerfully built, swaps the Golden Catarina for the freshly made fake. On his way downstairs, however, Jim tumbles down the steep staircase with the Madonna and loses consciousness. Giovanni rushes over, thinks Jim was trying to carry the fake upstairs, and puts the real Madonna back in its original place. For this, Jegg gives him a thorough scolding. In the end, however, the three buddies manage to outwit Banausis once again at the airfield, where he is waiting for his plane, and this time escape with the real Madonna.
