Zweier ohne (2008)

Johann, who has only recently moved to the area and doesn’t know anyone in his new neighborhood yet, befriends the outsider Ludwig. The two spend a lot of time together and discover a shared passion for coxless rowing. Because timing is extremely important in this sport, they train very hard and win race after race. When they are beaten by a pair of twins, they decide to make themselves as alike as possible. They cut their hair and even share a girl from school. To pass the time between training, competitions, and school, they restore a motorcycle that is ready for the scrap heap. Ludwig, who is also working on getting his motorcycle license, wants to take Johann on its maiden ride after they have won the championship. They are involved in an accident during the ride, and it is unclear whether Ludwig caused it intentionally. Johann is seriously injured but survives—unlike Ludwig.
