Giulio is a successful economics journalist who is about to marry his fiancée, Giorgia. However, shortly before the wedding, he discovers that Giorgia is cheating on him with Alfonso, her boss, which leads him to decide to quit his job. After being rejected by several employers who consider him “overqualified,” Giulio manages to get hired by the editor of Macho Man, an online men’s magazine where he will be responsible for several columns, including one on seduction. He then decides to turn to Valeria, a fascinating expert in the field who teaches men how to win a woman over in seven hours, convinced that attraction is exclusively a biological matter. The article is a great success, so Giulio continues attending Valeria’s course, also because he wants to try to win Giorgia back. In the meantime, Giorgia has set a wedding date with Alfonso. Giulio changes his habits while retaining a certain purity of feeling, which touches Valeria. To help him overcome his insecurity, she decides to arrange for him to meet again with his high-school crush, Lina, the first girl who ever broke his heart. Meanwhile, Giorgia is impressed by Giulio’s transformation and shows a certain dislike for Valeria. Valeria, who realizes she has fallen in love with Giulio but has difficulty admitting it, visits her father Gaetano, who is in the hospital. Afterwards, she tells Giulio how her mother left her and her husband for another man, which is the source of her cynicism about relationships. Valeria is increasingly attracted to Giulio, who receives a phone call from Giorgia, saying she wants to get back together. At their meeting, however, Giulio rejects her advances because he understands that they are too different and that his heart already belongs to Valeria. But Valeria rejects him, convinced that he is not as different as she had thought. After listening to her father’s words, however, she regrets it and goes looking for Giulio at the Macho Man offices, where she discovers that he has resigned and is about to sign a contract with a French magazine. Valeria finds him at a party by the sea and falls into the water, but Giulio reaches her. She confesses that she loves him, and Giulio chooses to continue working for the French magazine, but to do so from its Naples office so he can be with her.
