Full plot (contains spoilers)
On a Caribbean island, a group of scientists, including Dr. Geoffrey and led by Colonel Kovacks, conduct dangerous experiments. The radioactive waste produced by these experiments is dumped into the depths of a volcano. The journalist Jane, helped by the photographer Lee, goes to the island to find proof of this shady activity and prevent the environmental devastation it could cause. However, they are discovered while investigating: Lee is captured, while Jane manages to escape and make her way into the jungle, where she meets Bob, a herpetologist who has lived on the island for many years. Together, they try to free Lee. Meanwhile, a strange alien creature, drawn by the radiation, descends into the volcano. This gigantic creature can emit a strange hallucinogenic substance that drives human minds to madness and eventual death, as well as inflicting horrific wounds on those unfortunate enough to be struck by it. After Lee meets a tragic end as a result of the alien’s attack, Jane and Bob, helped by Dr. Geoffrey—who has meanwhile realized that disaster is approaching and taken their side—destroy the entire laboratory and defeat the terrifying “Alien of the Abyss.”
