The story

Inès is threatened with eviction from the home she shares with her 14-year-old son, Adam. She takes a job with Anti-Squat, a company that houses people in vacant buildings to guard them against squatters and damage. Inès is assigned an office building, where she must recruit residents and enforce the company’s strict rules; she is also required to live on site. Her position puts her between an employer demanding increasing firmness, residents coping with difficult personal circumstances and restrictive conditions, and Adam, who sees his mother’s work as unjust and is developing political awareness.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Inès is threatened with eviction from the home she shares with her 14-year-old son, Adam. She is hired by the company Anti-Squat, which offers to house people in vacant buildings to protect them from squatters and damage. Her first client entrusts her with an office building. She must recruit residents and make sure they follow strict rules: children and pets are forbidden, parties are prohibited, residents may not be away without permission, and so on. In addition, to ensure that everything runs smoothly, she has to live on the premises. Inès finds herself caught between her employer, who demands ever greater firmness from her and threatens not to renew her contract; the residents, each facing difficult personal circumstances and struggling with the restrictions imposed by Anti-Squat; a security company that resents this new competition and tries to destabilize her; and Adam, who cannot understand why his mother is taking part in what he sees as an injustice, as he develops a political awareness of his own.
