A former police major leaves a medical facility to investigate attacks tied to his past—and becomes drawn to the banker’s financial director.
The story
Former police major Filipp Korenev, known as Fox, has withdrawn from the world into a medical labor-preventive facility after earlier events, while his wife has left him and workplace conflicts persist over his methods. Attacks then strike people connected to his past. Banker Khondachev and his financial director, Ekaterina, arrange for Fox to leave the facility and ask him to investigate the attack on the banker and a large sum apparently stolen from the bank. The transfer had seemed to be budget funding but was actually the thieves’ communal fund. Fox accepts, partly because he is attracted to Ekaterina, and the investigation draws him toward a past he would rather forget.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Former police major Filipp Korenev, nicknamed Fox, continues to fight evil in all its forms after the events surrounding the elimination of a terrorist gang. Fox tries to hide from the world around him in a medical labor-preventive facility. His wife has left him, and at work he faces conflicts over his “unorthodox” methods; only at the clinic does Korenev feel he belongs. He has even started writing—the doctor had meant oil painting or watercolors as therapy, but Fox misunderstood and mistakenly took up a pen. A series of attacks takes place in the city against people connected to his past. Banker Khondachev and his financial director, a young woman named Ekaterina, get Korenev released from the medical labor-preventive facility and ask him to help find the people who attacked the banker and apparently stole a large sum of money from his bank—a bank transfer that looked like budget funding but turned out to be the thieves’ communal fund. Fox agrees, mostly because he is interested in the young woman. The investigation will bring Fox face to face with a past he would rather forget and turn his life upside down, bringing him true love.
