The story
Serge, known as Count Fornari, is hired by a mysterious employer to steal the Nabob, an exceptionally valuable diamond worn in a pendant by Jeannette, companion to a billionaire. Jeannette also covets the gem and steals it from a safe. Nearly caught, she conceals it in a handkerchief and slips it into Serge’s pocket during a hotel ball. When she returns to the billionaire, he asks her to open her hand, only for the diamond to be missing. The discovery sets the three protagonists on a chase filled with misunderstandings and twists.

Serge, alias Count Fornari (Paul Guers), is hired by a mysterious employer to try to steal the Nabob, an exceptionally valuable diamond worn in a pendant by Jeannette, alias Aménita (Perrette Pradier), the companion of a billionaire (O. E. Hasse). Jeannette covets the diamond and steals it from the safe. On the verge of being caught in the act, she keeps it hidden in a handkerchief she is holding and manages to slip it into Serge’s pocket during the hotel ball. When she rejoins the billionaire, he asks her to open her hand, but the diamond is no longer there. A chase then ensues among the three protagonists, punctuated by misunderstandings and twists.
