The story
Seventeen-year-old Yara lives in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg with her father, who is originally from Albania, and her siblings. Alongside working at a supermarket, she takes care of the family household. When she meets Kiki, who grew up in youth homes, the two young women fall in love. Yara finds a new sense of freedom in the relationship, while Kiki experiences security and belonging for the first time. They must keep their relationship secret: Yara’s conservative father has already chosen a husband for her, and her brother Bekim must not find out.

When she meets Kiki, the two young women fall in love. While Yara experiences a new sense of freedom in the relationship, Kiki, who grew up in youth homes, experiences a sense of security and belonging for the first time. However, they have to keep their relationship secret, since Yara’s conservative father has already chosen a husband for her, and her brother Bekim must not find out about the relationship either. When their love is discovered, Yara and Kiki flee together toward southern France.
