The story

Gino Roma has run a pizzeria in Brussels for thirty years, a business bought with money from his wife, Simone. His settled life is disrupted when he learns that his uncle, a billionaire Italian mafia boss, is near death and has promised him a substantial inheritance. To secure it, Gino must persuade his uncle that he really has become the formidable crime boss he claimed to be, ruling Brussels’s pizzerias. He hires a director to make a documentary that will present him as a major gangster. But his family is not fully supportive, and the film crew does not readily accept his orders as he takes his invented role increasingly seriously.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Gino Roma has run a pizzeria in Brussels for thirty years, bought with money from his wife, Simone. His peaceful life is turned upside down when he learns that his uncle, a billionaire Italian mafia boss, is about to die—and that he has been promised a large share of the inheritance. To receive it, he must prove to his uncle that he really has become, just as he told him, a formidable crime boss who rules over Brussels’s pizzerias. Gino then commissions a director to make a documentary portraying him as a major gangster. Nothing goes quite as planned: Gino’s family is not entirely on board, and the film crew is not “open” to taking orders from Gino, who takes his new role very seriously—especially as the charade soon attracts the malevolent attention of a real gangster...
