Full plot (contains spoilers)
The events take place between 1958 and 1964 in Turin, a city marked by a boom in internal migration. During these years, Giovanni (Enrico Lo Verso), an illiterate factory worker and Sicilian migrant, joins his younger brother Pietro (Francesco Giuffrida) beneath the Mole and does everything he can to get him to pursue his studies so that he can earn a teaching diploma. Giovanni’s obsessive love for his younger brother is later reciprocated, to the point that Pietro takes the blame for a murder actually committed by Giovanni. Some of the Turin scenes were filmed at Palazzo dei Cavalieri on Via della Basilica.
