Full plot (contains spoilers)

As children, Ezechiele was the class nerd and was often picked on by the other boys, especially Nando, and even by their teachers. Thirty years later, their lives have not changed: Ezechiele is a university biology professor who cannot get anyone to respect him. His colleagues mock him, his students pay no attention to him at all, and his family takes no notice of him, excluding him from everything. Nando, nicknamed “Bulldogghe,” is instead the leader of a gang of criminals who work under the table for a fast-food chain, Mr. Hambù. They threaten small business owners to force them to give up their properties so the company can take them over. One day the two meet by chance. Tired of being the same rude, uncultured person with no common sense, Nando decides to ask Ezechiele for etiquette lessons. Ezechiele, meanwhile, is urged by his very cold wife to change his ways. Ezechiele has just completed an important experiment in recombinant DNA technology on a laboratory guinea pig and a little bird, and decides to swap some of his own DNA genes with those of the unsuspecting Nando. The two then begin living new lives: Ezechiele becomes a respected professor, acclaimed by his students; he also manages to earn his family’s respect and satisfy his wife’s desires. Nando, meanwhile, can no longer do his job as a “tough guy,” and meets a young woman, Elena, who immediately falls in love with his erudition. However, the effects of the experiment are temporary, and the two return to their former lives, though they become good friends. Rodomonti, Nando’s boss, learns that genes from someone inclined to eat junk food could be put into his products to make people eat at Mr. Hambù. To do this, however, he needs Ezechiele’s help, which Ezechiele refuses. In exchange for three million euros, Rodomonti hires Nando to steal the test tube containing the genes Ezechiele has isolated, and then kill him. Meanwhile, Ezechiele falls in love with Elena, while Nando falls for Renata, his friend’s rough-mannered wife. Nando does not want to kill his new friend, but he has promised his wicked boss he will, so he decides to do the opposite: he sets out to find the genes of someone inclined to eat vegan and healthy food. To get them, he pursues the well-known chef Karl Kranz, an enemy and direct competitor of Mr. Hambù, and a great supporter of healthy eating. Ezechiele and Elena also get involved, and the three manage to kidnap the chef and take the genes they need from him. Nando gives the test tube to his boss, along with a fake video in which he shoots Ezechiele. Nando and Ezechiele then split the three-million-euro haul they have just earned. The following day, Ezechiele, now engaged to Elena, and Nando, Renata’s partner (Renata is his friend’s ex-wife), are about to leave for Panama. But as they are boarding, they learn that Karl Kranz has been arrested and turns out to be “The Gourmet,” a long-sought serial-killer cannibal. The two couples realize that they have unleashed a new “epidemic” on the world, and decide not to leave for Central America after all.
