Full plot (contains spoilers)

The criminal couple Betty Williams and Bob Fishman try to rob a jewelry store in Glasgow. The plan goes wrong and a police officer is killed. Bob manages to escape, but Betty is caught and sentenced to ten years in prison. The harsh prison conditions turn Betty into a hard and embittered person after just a few months. After she is transferred to a new cell, she learns that Bob is working as a waiter under a false name at a roadside inn on the coast. When Betty is seduced and flogged by the supervisor, Francis Nipple, another gruesome murder takes place. Betty manages to get hold of the cell keys and escape with four fellow inmates. The five escaped women break into a department store to get new clothes. During their escape, they shoot a funeral director. When they arrive at the inn, Betty discovers that Bob initially wants nothing more to do with her or their past. Nevertheless, he helps the women hide in the estate’s barn. When the owner of the inn discovers their hideout, he too has to die. To get enough money to flee England, the women decide to kidnap the wealthy Marilyn Oland and demand £20,000 in ransom from her husband. But the plan fails because the man has no interest in freeing his neurotic wife and even takes advantage of the situation to murder her in cold blood. Meanwhile, the women have also eliminated the witness, Mrs. Twaddle, at the inn. When a married couple arrives at the inn, the women and Bob kidnap their sick child. A dramatic escape from the police ensues, ending with Bob and Betty dying.
