Das Tagebuch einer Verlorenen (1918)

The pharmacist’s daughter, Thymian Gotteball, is seduced and impregnated by Meinert, one of her father’s employees. After giving birth to her child, she is cast out by her own family and sent to a reform school. As a result, she becomes increasingly isolated from society. Only when an elderly count takes her in and marries her does she gain access both to aristocratic circles and to her former bourgeois ones again.
