An emotionally detached drug dealer is drawn into the life of an addict and her daughter, opening a chance to reconnect with his own emotions.

The story

A middle-aged man makes a living dealing drugs after having used them himself, but his emotional life has narrowed to near emptiness. Most of his social connections have faded, and he sees only his friend Barbara. He is troubled by the damage caused by the drugs he sells, which lead to other people’s lives being ruined or to their deaths. Wanda, a heroin addict with little prospect for her future, faces the authorities’ intention to take her daughter, Bogi, away. The dealer is presumably Bogi’s father, and his growing connection with the child becomes a possible route toward feeling again and escaping the bleakness of his daily life.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The story’s main character is a middle-aged man who used to take drugs and now makes a living dealing them. He is characterized by a profound inner emptiness and an emotional detachment. This lack of emotion stems from the fact that almost all of his social connections have faded away—he only sees his friend Barbara. His emotional estrangement is caused above all by the fact that the drugs he sells for money lead to other people’s lives being ruined or to their deaths. The film features Wanda, a heroin addict whose life holds no prospects. The authorities intend to take her daughter, Bogi, away from her. The dealer is presumably Bogi’s father, so he also develops a closer relationship with her. This is the storyline in which he tries once again to feel emotions and find a way out of the dark maze of everyday life. It is a series of lives and circumstances, connected by the dealer’s character.
