Full plot (contains spoilers)
After idyllic views of the mist-shrouded valley, Arnold Fanck shows competitors and spectators being transported by the Rhaetian Railway and arriving in St. Moritz. This is followed by views of the peaks of the Engadine range, Piz Bernina, and Piz Palü. After showing the serene mountain summits, Fanck shows athletes skiing at high altitude wearing nothing but underpants. In the valley, the athletes prepare feverishly (some sequences are in slow motion) and display technological innovations, such as this new ski-boot binding. The opening day of the games arrives, with a parade of competitors from the twenty-five participating countries passing before a small number of spectators. Then the competitions follow one after another, including ski jöring.
