The story
A bank robber’s carefully planned heist goes awry when another customer is present, and the robber takes him hostage. The hostage, Erkki, is mentally ill and wanted for murder. Danish police officer Karsten Skov is assigned to solve the case quickly, as he intends to return to Denmark and is struggling with the fact that he has a young son he has not seen in a year. The investigation soon focuses on Erkki, but his psychiatrist and therapist, Sara Rask, believes he is innocent and urges Karsten to consider other leads. Their opposing views drive the investigation into conflict.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The robber (Stig Henrik Hoff) had made a meticulous plan. But he had not counted on there being another customer in the bank. The robber was forced to take this customer hostage when it turned out that he was mentally ill and wanted for murder. The Danish police officer Karsten Skov (Lars Bom) is the man tasked with solving the case. He plans to do so quickly because he has decided to move back to Denmark. It is all a desperate attempt to forget that he actually has a four-year-old son here—a son he has not seen in a year and will probably never see again. The investigation quickly points to the “madman” Erkki (Kristoffer Joner) as the culprit, and Karsten commits all his resources to the hunt for the suspect. Only one person, Sara Rask (Laila Goody), a psychiatrist and Erkki’s therapist, believes Erkki is innocent. She insists that Karsten examine and investigate other leads. It all leads to a deep conflict between Karsten and Sara.
