Full plot (contains spoilers)
Tull Harper is an enthusiastic football fan and a key player for the Alemannia football club. His father, Consul Norbert Harper, does not share his passion and forbids Tull from taking part in training and matches alongside his work—especially since the Harper wholesale firm is facing financial difficulties that threaten its very existence. When Miss Mabel Douglas arrives as a representative of an American creditor to call in the debts, bankruptcy looms. But events take a turn for the better when a romance develops between Tull Harper and Mabel Douglas alongside their business dealings, strengthened by their shared passion for football. Their relationship is threatened when Jonas Habakuk Ripton, who has also set his sights on Miss Douglas, manages to sow discord by spreading false claims. In the end, however, love triumphs over the intrigue, the Harper wholesale firm is saved, and, with his father’s blessing, Tull Harper is allowed to lace up his football boots again in time for a decisive match and lead his club to victory.
