Charlie, a young man with an intellectual disability, is contacted by doctors who want to test a substance that enhances intelligence. Since the test was successful on Algernon, a laboratory mouse, Charlie agrees. Over the weeks, Charlie’s intelligence grows, and his IQ rises above 150. Ever more eager for knowledge, he decides to learn the piano and wins over his teacher, Alice, to whom he says nothing about his past. But one day, Charlie learns that Algernon’s condition has worsened and the mouse’s intelligence is fading. From that day on, Charlie begins to regress. What will he choose?
