Full plot (contains spoilers)
Thies Meisner works as a property manager for a real estate agency in Berlin. He is gay and single. He has few friends. His only friend is Marcos, a secondhand dealer. One day, while showing an apartment, he meets Bruno, a Pole, and his companion Sonja. The two have no steady income and may have insecure residency status in Germany. Thies assumes they are a couple. A few days later, Bruno waits for him along his jogging route and flirts with him. Sonja, he says, is not his girlfriend but his sister. Thies, who found Bruno attractive from their very first meeting, gives in to the flirting, and before long the two sleep together for the first time. Thies gets the supposed siblings an empty apartment without his employer knowing. He and Bruno sleep together again. Thies has fallen seriously in love with Bruno. But soon Thies begins to doubt Bruno and Sonja’s story about being siblings. In the end, the two confess that they are not siblings but friends. Bruno is protecting Sonja, who fled Belarus and is in Germany illegally. Thies promises not to turn them in and to protect them. He already sees himself as part of the two of them. But Sonja is secretly jealous of the relationship between Bruno and Thies. During a trip to Poland, it becomes clear at a nightclub that Bruno is bisexual. He flirts with the dancers. But when he realizes that Thies is hurt, he kisses him; they dance in a close embrace and sleep together one last time. When they return to the Berlin apartment, Sonja has disappeared, and Bruno sets out to look for her. For a few days, Thies—deeply affected by their disappearance, especially Bruno’s—desperately tries to find them again in the big city. He gives up the search and realizes that he has to change his life and open up more if he wants to be happy.
