Full plot (contains spoilers)

Set in the mountains, the story follows the classic tale of two “star-crossed lovers” who cannot be together. A young girl, elfin in nature and endearingly innocent, is suspected of being a witch by the village’s suspicious and simple-minded inhabitants. In truth, she is merely searching for a little happiness and love. One day, she meets a young man, quickly gives him her heart, and he takes her completely under his wing. Her life seems perfect—but, to her horror, the young man turns out to be her half-brother! The fair maiden is forbidden to be with him, yet she can no more bear to be apart from him. And so the unhappy girl decides to end her life at a weir by leaping into the cold, rushing waters of an opened sluice, rather than fall prey to the mortal sin of incestuous love.
