Full plot (contains spoilers)
This arms-dealing drama is set in what was then the present day—that is, during the Cold War—in Germany and Switzerland. Manora Khan, consul of an unnamed Asian country, intends to snatch from his Cuban colleague Maria Gomez an arms shipment intended for her country. To do so, he enlists the help of the suave Johnny Zamaris, with whom he shares a past: Johnny once took away the great love of Khan’s life, the actress Violetta Scotoni. But it soon becomes clear that none of them is what they seem. Consul Khan turns out to be the leader of a secret organization called “The Red Hand,” which deliberately kills rival arms dealers. His competitor Johnny is more than just a suave charmer, too; in reality, he works as a counterintelligence officer for his country, with orders to dismantle “The Red Hand.” The two men, once rivals for Violetta, both die in the service of their respective homelands. After one last tender embrace with Violetta, Johnny is cut down from behind by a burst of machine-gun fire from a black limousine.
