Full plot (contains spoilers)
Fashion photographer Michael Bender is deeply in debt after his wife’s death because of the cost of her treatment. Since he is caring for his daughter, Sammy, he has put his career on hold, despite being in great demand. As a result, he faces the seizure of his property and the loss of custody of Sammy. Sammy befriends Julia, a master pastry chef, who Michael also likes very much. Julia is not opposed to his advances, but she is about to marry her childhood friend, Wolfgang, a prosecutor—a fact Michael only learns after he confesses his love to her. Sammy sees Julia kissing Wolfgang and runs away in despair. After Sammy is found, Michael finally decides not to send her to boarding school at short notice for the sake of a job abroad. He turns down the photography job, since a photo book featuring pictures of Julia, the “Chocolate Queen,” and her cake creations is now selling well. Julia knows nothing of this success yet and goes to a wellness hotel for a weight-loss treatment because she feels she is too fat. Michael wants to go to her at once to show her the successful photo book. In the end, the wedding to Wolfgang is called off, and Julia returns to her pastry shop and to Michael and Sammy.
