When a cheating scheme fails, Ducobu turns Greta Thunberg’s school strike into a plan to dodge a week of tests.

The story

As his vacation ends, Ducobu visits the Kitrish store for new cheating tricks and gets a talking teddy bear meant to supply answers during tests. Mr. Latouche catches the bear cheating, earning Ducobu his first zero. For a class presentation on someone they admire, Léonie chooses environmental activist Greta Thunberg, while Ducobu presents on the sloth. Hearing that Greta skipped school for a year to help save the planet gives Ducobu an idea: avoid “Dark Week,” a stretch of nonstop tests. After his father threatens to send him to boarding school unless his grades improve, Ducobu decides to take a year off like Greta.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After being fraudulently elected president in the fourth installment, Ducobu’s vacation is soon coming to an end. During his break, he goes into the Kitrish store to find new cheating tricks. The manager shows him a talking teddy bear that is supposed to give him the answers during tests. In the teachers’ lounge, Mr. Latouche and Mrs. Rateau meet the new PE teacher, Fiona Frinfron, who immediately catches Mr. Latouche’s eye. Seeing this, Ghislaine kicks him and announces their wedding. Gustave explains that their witnesses will be their colleagues. Everyone except Fiona looks at the wedding gift list and criticizes Latouche for being stingy. During class, Mr. Latouche catches the teddy bear cheating. Ducobu gets his first “0.” For homework, the students have to give a presentation on the person they admire most. At dinner at the Gratin home, Léonie tells her parents, Hervé and Adeline, that she will give a presentation on Greta Thunberg. The next day at Saint-Potache School, all the students give presentations on Mbappé, except for Léonie and Ducobu. Léonie gives her presentation on the Swedish environmental activist, while Ducobu gives one on his favorite animal, his idol: the sloth. He gets a “0” and is sent to the corner, where he finds his “corner brother,” the class skeleton. Latouche makes him wear the dunce cap. From the corner, Ducobu listens to Léonie’s presentation, which gives him an idea when she explains that Greta Thunberg skipped school for a year to save the planet. He sees it as a chance to avoid “Dark Week,” a week of nonstop tests that is a real ordeal for the students. After an argument with his father, his father threatens to send him to boarding school if he doesn’t get good grades during Dark Week. Because of this threat, Ducobu decides to take a year off, like Greta Thunberg. Meanwhile, Mr. Latouche and Mrs. Rateau ask Latouche’s mother, who is living in a retirement home, for permission to marry, but she refuses. Gustave begs her, which disgusts Ghislaine. Eventually, she agrees, but asks Latouche to come back the next day. The next day, during Fiona’s class, Ducobu helps the students get out of doing PE. The teacher asks for help managing this battalion of schoolchildren. At the beach, the students pick up litter, except for Ducobu and Kaskou. Karine finds them, films them, then shows the video to Léonie. Kaskou then gets the idea to call Macadam and Débilo to make a viral video about the environment, since the two influencers have more than 10 million followers on their channel. Ducobu spots garbage bags in frog-shaped trash bins, and the two friends show them to the girls as if they had picked them up, to make them believe they are environmentalists. Soon afterward, Ducobu and Kaskou learn that Macadam and Débilo have agreed to make a video about the environment, but Ducobu is short on ideas, so his friend suggests copying Greta’s speech at the UN. The video gets 100,000 views, and all the students at Saint-Potache demonstrate to save the planet—all except Léonie and Karine, who are still angry with Ducobu and call him an impostor. But he understands this as “a poster” (a made-up word derived from “postman”) and doesn’t reconsider his behavior. That evening, Ducobu and Hervé enjoy Adeline’s assortment of turnips and radishes. She gives Ducobu a green-striped T-shirt rather than a yellow one, representing nature and environmental commitment. Hervé asks Adeline what the children would do without school. Adeline and Ducobu reply that they have to save the planet. Then Léonie gets up from the table. Ducobu asks her to listen to him, but she tells him it’s over between them because Ducobu had fun instead of picking things up at the beach and copied Greta Thunberg’s speech. The next day, Ducobu and Kaskou are sitting at the entrance to their school, and Ducobu is sulking. Kaskou congratulates him on his success, so Ducobu explains that Léonie has broken up with him. Kaskou suggests they go to Lilac Park to relax, but when they arrive by the park’s lake, he falls into the water. Ducobu saves him. They then discover a notice explaining that Lilac Park is going to be replaced by a parking lot belonging to Patrick Moisi, a businessman who dislikes nature. The students don’t want to let this man destroy the environment and decide to stop him. They contact Macadam and Débilo again to alert their town and the journalists, in order to prevent the parking lot from being built. At Saint-Potache, Ghislaine runs into Latouche, who is sobbing and mumbling that Ducobu is taking an even longer year off. She cheers him up and advises him to ask his mother for her blessing again. During the video shoot, Macadam and Débilo keep interrupting Ducobu’s speech, then pretend to leave so he can finish. Ducobu concludes: “I’m counting on you to save the park. Tell everyone you know, then make it go viral so the mayor, the members of parliament, and the president get involved!” Meanwhile, Gustave calls Ghislaine to tell her that his mother has agreed to the wedding and has even offered Ghislaine her own wedding dress. On leaving the retirement home, Latouche reads a poster: “STOP ECO-LIES AT 2 P.M.!” He goes to Moisi’s meeting to hear his speech and asks him for a favor: to make Ducobu give up environmentalism and go back to school. Unfortunately, Moisi discovers that Latouche is a vegetarian and has security arrest him. At the park, Ducobu and Kaskou are disappointed because nobody has watched their video. Kaskou suggests other solutions… At the retirement home, Latouche’s mother gets a call from Ghislaine, who asks her where Gustave is. She replies that her fiancé is cheating on her with Fiona. Ghislaine goes to Fiona, who tells her she can track Latouche using a GPS tracker attached to his shirt. Ghislaine goes to Moisi and demands to see Gustave, but the real-estate agent discovers that they are lovers and has her arrested too. All the students from Saint-Potache go to Lilac Park and attack the workers. Moisi chases Ducobu, who decides to knock him out by going tree-climbing, but things don’t go as planned. Eventually, the two teachers are freed and Lilac Park is saved. Back at Saint-Potache, the minister tells Kitrish to teach the students instead of selling them cheating accessories. Ducobu talks to Léonie and they make up. Gustave and Ghislaine ask Léonie and Ducobu if they would be willing to be their wedding witnesses, and they agree. During the speech, the minister presents Ducobu with the Medal of Citizenship for stopping Patrick Moisi. Ducobu proposes that Saint-Potache become a green school, a model for schools all over the world. His speech is a great success. The principal officiates at the two teachers’ wedding. Fiona, hiding in a tree, tries to disrupt the ceremony, saying that Gustave doesn’t want to take Ghislaine as his wife because he isn’t ready, but when the principal asks Gustave if he will take Ghislaine as his wife, Gustave says yes. At the end, the newlyweds go home. But to Ghislaine’s great dismay, her husband sets her down in his mother’s bed and leaves them to sleep together.
