The lead actors and the director at the premiere in Berlin. Norbert Krabbe is an unemployed man who brightens up his life and makes it bearable with prize competitions. One day, he wins the grand prize in a contest: a fjord in Norway. The gambling addict decides to visit the fjord named after him. Unfortunately, not only does he lack the money needed for the trip, but he also suffers from severe travel sickness that makes him nauseous even on the tram. Nevertheless, he tries to make his way north with his daughter Ute and no money. Shortly afterward, his wife Birgit learns that he has won €500,000 in another prize competition, but that he must collect the money in person within ten days. Unable to reach Norbert by phone—he has traded his mobile phone for a train ticket—she follows him by taxi. Traveling by different routes by train, ship, on foot, hitchhiking, and on a Vélosolex, Norbert, Ute, and Birgit reach the city of Bergen, where an unfriendly department-store employee from Herne, Horst Schlämmer from Grevenbroich, and a woman named Ulrike Lange from Darmstadt also arrive. Since Norbert boards the ship heading north under a false name, and his wife also has a penchant for false identities (Jaqueline, Chantal from Cologne, Desiree from Düsseldorf), numerous mix-ups occur aboard the ship. After many complications, the family is finally reunited at Norbert Krabbe Fjord.
