El astronauta (1970)

We are in the Spanish village of Minglanillas. While a man is arriving on the Moon, a group of friends watches the broadcast of the event on television in a bar. Pepe Fernández (Tony Leblanc), one of the bar’s patrons, says that with a little money and a lot of dedication, they can do the same. After discussing it, they decide to get to work. They borrow land from the wealthy Don Gregorio Minglanillas (Antonio Ferrandis), whom they quickly persuade, and set up the SANA (Aerospace Ships Corporation) base there. They kidnap Don Anselmo (José Luis López Vázquez), an elderly professor who claims to have taught Wernher von Braun how to build space rockets, and with his help they begin drawing up the rocket’s plans. Once construction of the spacecraft is complete and the future astronaut has trained for the harsh conditions of outer space, they finally arrive at NASA’s space base in Fresnedillas, pretending to be visitors, to see whether they can establish a communications link with their base in Minglanillas. Incredibly, they succeed, and everything is now ready. Only the launch remains...
