A Sardinian soldier hiding behind a Milanese persona is recruited to discover who in Sardinia has become the owner of the Moon—and why.
The story
Italian secret agents Dino and Pino receive a tip from the United States that someone in Sardinia has become the owner of the Moon, an affront because the USA were first to set foot on it. They recruit Gavino Zoccheddu, a soldier who conceals his Sardinian identity behind the name Kevin Pirelli and a pronounced Milanese accent. Kevin is tasked with discovering who bought the Moon and why, but must first be transformed into a true Sardinian. Badore, a reluctant, misanthropic cultural trainer, is engaged to help prepare him.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
A pair of Italian secret agents, Dino and Pino, receive a tip from the United States of America telling them that someone in Sardinia has become the owner of the Moon—a completely unacceptable affront, since the USA were the first to set foot on it. The two agents therefore recruit Gavino Zoccheddu, a soldier who hides his Sardinian identity behind the false name Kevin Pirelli and a pronounced Milanese accent. Kevin must find out on the ground who bought the Moon and why, but to do so he must be transformed into a true Sardinian. To that end, they hire Badore, a reluctant and misanthropic cultural trainer. After overcoming the difficulties of his training and a grotesque final exam, Kevin sets off for Sardinia and, following a series of picaresque adventures, manages to reach the fictional village of Cuccurumalu, where he begins his investigation in disguise.
