Full plot (contains spoilers)
In a small town, Fernández, the protagonist, works in Don Vila’s hardware business and dreams of what life will be like when his employer dies. He has not forgotten that his boss once casually promised him that the business would be his someday. From then on, Fernández, who is in love with Miss Plasini (played by Graciela Borges), does nothing but wait for that day to come. He moves between the masculine world of the hardware store and the feminine world of the Plasini household, where only the mother, the daughter, and a simple-minded son live, since their father has died. The women, for their part, have an equal desire to go out and to stay in, and an equal fear of staying and of the outside world.
