A young woman caring for her terminally ill mother must navigate desire, family tension, and the uncertainty of what comes next.

The story

Twenty-six-year-old Klarissa devotes herself to caring for her terminally ill mother, Waltraud, who urges her to stop daydreaming and take charge of her own life. Waltraud shares a house with her boyfriend, Enno, who often steps in to mediate their arguments. But Enno’s interest extends beyond Waltraud, and Klarissa is drawn to him too, troubling her relationship with her boyfriend, Marius, who watches Enno’s advances suspiciously. When Enno tries to get closer to Klarissa in private, she rejects him out of respect for her mother, despite her own attraction.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Twenty-six-year-old Klarissa receives little gratitude from her terminally ill mother, Waltraud, whom she lovingly cares for. Her mother wants her to take charge of her life instead of just daydreaming. Waltraud shares a house with her boyfriend, Enno, who often mediates their arguments. But Enno is interested in more than just Waltraud; Klarissa also finds the 60-year-old attractive, much to the displeasure of Klarissa’s boyfriend, Marius, who watches Enno’s advances with great suspicion. When Enno tries to get closer to Klarissa during a private moment, she turns him down, despite being attracted to him herself, out of respect for her mother. When Waltraud succumbs to her illness a few days later, Klarissa needs some time to herself. During that time, she learns that Enno only wanted to use her for his own interests. She also wants nothing more to do with Marius.
