Eleven-year-old Linh and her little sister Tien are suddenly left to fend for themselves when their mother has to go to Vietnam to care for their sick grandmother. But no one must find out—especially the youth welfare office. Linh is now not only responsible for Tien, but also has to take care of the household and her mother’s Vietnamese snack bar alongside school. But Pauline, a self-proclaimed spy from the apartment block across the way, discovers their secret and threatens to report the two girls.
