The story
Eight-year-old Maria finds her younger brother annoying. When Makka, a new neighbor with a wishing ball, arrives, Maria has already wished in part for her brother to disappear. Later, while Maria is ill, the babysitter Gerda comes to look after her. Maria and Makka begin to believe that Gerda is a witch who has arrived to kidnap Maria’s brother. Regretting her wish, Maria must find a way to prevent what she fears will happen.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Maria is eight years old and finds her younger brother very annoying. One day, Makka moves into Maria’s neighborhood. She has a wishing ball that, according to her, grants every wish. Maria has, in part, wished for her brother to disappear, and when the babysitter Gerda arrives to look after Maria, who is ill, Maria and Makka believe she is the answer to Maria’s wish—a witch who has come to kidnap her brother. Maria, deeply regretful of her wish, must now do everything she can to stop Gerda.
