A reporter revisits the lives of a murdered couple, and interviews gradually unsettle their polished public image.
The story
A year after the Tamukai family, an elite white-collar household, is massacred, the case has gone cold with no culprit found. A reporter begins interviewing the couple’s colleagues, former classmates, ex-lovers, and others, asking what they remember about the pair and what they were like. At first glance, the Tamukais had seemed to be an ideal couple. As the interviews unfold, however, accounts of their lives begin to reveal a more complicated picture. The inquiry revisits the couple through the recollections of people who knew them, while the unsolved case remains in the background.
