The story
Tokyo, 2020. Keiko Ogawa is a professional boxer who trains at a neighborhood gym despite having been born with a hearing impairment. After winning her debut fight and her second bout, she faces doubts about continuing, sharpened by her mother Kiyomi’s question: “How long are you planning to keep this up?” Keiko writes a letter asking to take a leave of absence from the gym, but cannot bring herself to give it to the chairman. When she learns that the gym is going to close, her feelings about boxing begin to waver.

Tokyo, 2020. The protagonist, Keiko Ogawa, is a professional boxer who trains at a neighborhood boxing gym despite having been born with a hearing impairment. She wins both her debut fight and her second bout, but her mother, Kiyomi, asks her, “How long are you planning to keep this up?” Keiko herself is also troubled by doubts about whether to continue boxing. She has written a letter asking to take a leave of absence from the gym, but cannot bring herself to give it to the gym’s chairman. Then one day, Keiko learns that the gym is going to close, and her feelings gradually begin to waver.
