Full plot (contains spoilers)
After completing her studies, Isabella Meinhardt moved to Japan to work. When her father, Friedrich, asks her to come home, she thinks there can only be one reason. At last, the businessman's daughter believes, she is to take over the management of the venerable Meinhardt Automobile Works. When she learns that her father only wants her to attend his engagement to prosecutor Viola Kassen, she angrily tries to leave again at once. But her father stops her by giving her a chance to prove herself at his company. However, he does not put her straight into a management position; instead, he wants her to learn the business from the ground up and, so to speak, start at the very bottom. So Isabella begins her new job on the assembly line in the production hall as “Isi Meier.” She befriends her colleague Alex Singer and gets a firsthand look at the workers’ hardships when she learns that Tarik Özgür’s fixed-term contract will not be renewed—even though his wife is expecting a child. While working on car assembly, she meets Sebastian Duxner, a development engineer. She falls in love with him and conceals her true identity. At last, she is loved not just for her money, but for who she is. When Isabella learns that her father’s company is on the verge of bankruptcy and a takeover by a large corporation, the situation calls for a clever solution. A new type of hybrid engine developed by Sebastian could be the answer. However, there are a few people in the company whose job is to prevent the business from getting back on its feet. Now Isabella can finally prove to her father that she is talented enough to make her way. She exposes chief engineer Dr. Steinfurt for sabotage—the future of the Meinhardt Works is saved. In the end, Alex Singer gets the special leave she is entitled to for her son, and Tarik Özgür receives a permanent contract. Isabella is promoted to the executive board.
