The story
Grazia lives on the outskirts of Reggio Calabria with her father, Cristiano. When she was twelve, her older brother Pietro emigrated to Germany, and she has not seen him since. Cristiano told her Pietro was dead and never spoke of him again. Now eighteen, Grazia goes to the beach after an argument with her father and enters the water. There, she sees a figure emerge from the sea and thinks she recognizes her brother.

Grazia lives on the outskirts of Reggio Calabria with her father, Cristiano. She was 12 when her older brother, Pietro, emigrated to Germany. She has never seen him again since. Cristiano told her that Pietro was dead, and never spoke of him again. Now Grazia is 18. One night, after an argument with her father, Grazia goes to the beach and enters the water. From the sea’s dark depths, she sees a human figure emerge and disappear into the night; she thinks she recognizes her brother.
