The story

After his wife dies, Berlin chef Ralf Dienert buys an old inn in the Spessart, hoping to build a new life with his children. Twelve-year-old Nico and fifteen-year-old Miriam are unhappy about leaving Berlin and their friends. Ralf receives support from waitress Valerie, but opening the inn brings an unexpected obstacle: the ghost robbers Karl, Mops, and Chlodwig. They refuse to leave their 300-year-old home and repeatedly disrupt the business, setting up a clash between the family’s fresh start and the ghosts’ determination to stay.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After his wife dies, Berlin chef Ralf Dienert buys an old inn in the Spessart. He wants to build a new life there with his children. Twelve-year-old Nico and fifteen-year-old Miriam, however, are initially unhappy about having to leave their hometown of Berlin and their friends behind. Dienert gets support from the waitress Valerie. When he opens his establishment, he has to deal with the ghost robbers Karl, Mops, and Chlodwig. The three refuse to give up their 300-year-old home and persistently disrupt the business. But when the despicable Count von Hohenfels tries to take the inn for himself, the ghosts decide they would rather join forces with Ralf Dienert’s family, especially since they have by then become friends with the chef’s children.
