Full plot (contains spoilers)
Lea Jung is a lawyer who has won a trial that attracted considerable media attention. Her client is Nick Storm, who was charged with rape and acquitted after Jung managed to cast doubt on the credibility of the alleged victim, Yvonne Schubert, using a psychological assessment prepared by Dr. Martens. After the trial, Lea sends her father, law firm head Peter Jung, to their house by the lake so she can escape the attention of the media and feminists. Nick also begins courting Lea, and the two spend a night together. Yvonne Schubert also seeks Lea out and insists that she was in the right. Yvonne warns Lea not to fall for Nick the way she did. According to Yvonne, Peter Jung’s law firm is on the verge of bankruptcy. Nick’s father, Alfred Storm, is supposed to support Peter if Peter keeps his son out of prison. Lea then doubts which of the two men she should trust. At Dr. Martens’s office, Lea discovers a photo showing Alfred Storm and Dr. Martens fishing together. Yvonne eventually admits that she wanted to use the trial to take revenge on Nick for her unrequited love, and threatens Lea and Nick with a gun. During a struggle between Lea and Yvonne, a shot goes off and hits Nick in the stomach. After Yvonne tries to drown Lea in the lake, Lea is rescued by her father, and Yvonne is shot dead. Nick is taken to the hospital; according to the doctors, he is expected to pull through. Lea’s father accompanies her to visit Nick in the hospital.
