After passing her architecture degree, Lena visits her mother in Norrsunda and meets a Stockholm lawyer juggling work and three children.

The story

After passing her architecture degree, Lena visits her mother in Norrsunda before a planned trip to Iceland. Her mother has arranged an interview for her at a respected architecture firm, though Lena is unhappy about it. Marius, a Stockholm lawyer, brings his three children to his father’s home after their nanny leaves unexpectedly. On the ferry, Lena lends him her phone, and their paths cross again in Norrsunda. They quickly take to each other, but the family’s arrival unsettles Marius’s father, while Lena’s horse Moses keeps wandering into his garden.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Lena has just passed her architecture degree and was planning to travel to Iceland with her good friend Felix, but first decides to visit her mother in Norrsunda to share the good news. Marius Sörenson is a lawyer at a prestigious firm in Stockholm. He takes over the Lagerson case from a colleague, but has problems at home because the nanny for his three children has had to leave for Mexico at short notice. So he decides to take the children to his father’s in Norrsunda. While he is on the ferry, he gets a phone call but can’t end it because his battery is dead. Lena sees what’s happening and lends him her phone. Marius’s father is having trouble with Lena’s mother because her horse, Moses, keeps disappearing and wrecking Sten Sörenson’s garden. Helena Bergmann is surprised when her daughter suddenly appears, but is very happy to see her. She has already arranged an interview for Lena at the renowned architecture firm Stegmann and Partner, but Lena is not at all happy about it. When Marius arrives at his father’s with the children, his father is only pretending to be pleased to see them. He fears they’ll bring chaos to his perfectly ordered life. Lena is rowing on the lake when she fails to notice Marius and collides with him as he is about to go for a swim. She takes him along in the boat and shows him her favorite spot on the island in the lake. They like each other right away. Sten puts on a good face when the children trash his rock garden. The next morning, Helena brings Lena breakfast in bed. As she heads back downstairs, she trips and falls down the stairs. At the hospital, it turns out she has broken her leg and suffered a concussion. Marius wants to apologize to his father for turning everything upside down, but his father is more understanding than he was the day before—until Moses turns up in the garden again. Marius sets out to return the horse, and on the way he runs into Lena, who is coming to fetch Moses. That’s when she discovers that he is Sten Sörenson’s son. Lena wants to invite Marius to dinner to thank him, but he doesn’t have time at the moment because of his case. As Lena rides her motorcycle into town, she almost runs over Kaja—Marius’s daughter—who isn’t paying attention on her bicycle. Lena tells her mother about meeting Marius, and her mother already thinks Lena has fallen in love. Marius is having problems with Kaja because she doesn’t follow the rules. He forbids her from meeting Lasse and his friends again. After Marius’s son Titus has another nightmare about his mother’s death, Marius decides to go for a run. He sees Lena’s horse and discovers that she is swimming in the lake. He invites her to dinner the following evening and then spontaneously kisses her. When Moses is back in Sten’s garden the next morning, Sten goes to Helena’s himself to complain about it. There he also meets Lena. Marius tries to convince Kaja that there are other ways she can spend her time, and takes her to Helena’s farm because he wants to arrange riding lessons for her. They don’t end up doing that; instead, they need help in the stable. In return, Kaja is allowed to ride for an hour that evening. Marius urgently needs to go to Stockholm, so he asks his father to look after the children by himself. Felix unexpectedly visits Lena, and she introduces him to her mother. Helena again thinks he would make a good partner for Lena, but Lena explains once more that Felix is gay and has a boyfriend. When Felix invites her to dinner that evening, she confesses that she has met a man and has plans with him. Lena goes with Marius to her island, where she has prepared dinner. Meanwhile, Sten takes tender care of his grandchildren. Lena and Marius spend the night together on the island. Back home, Marius tells his father that he has met a woman. Titus is already awake too, and realizes that Kaja is missing. Marius goes looking for her and finds her in the stable with the horses. That is how Lena learns that he has children. She is hurt because she assumes there must be a woman in the picture too. The rest of the family also comes by, so Lena and Helena meet all the Sörensons. Sten gives Marius a serious talking-to after realizing that Lena is the woman his son has fallen in love with. He advises him to calmly explain the whole situation to her again. Marius calls Lena because he wants to meet her, but she brushes him off and claims she is leaving for Iceland that very day. Her mother hears this and accuses her of wanting to run away from her problems. Sten visits Helena to apologize, and she invites him in for coffee. When he gets home, he tells Marius about the visit and again asks him to talk to Lena before she leaves. Kaja gets in touch with Lena because she wants to work in the stable again, and they get talking. That’s how Lena finds out that Kaja’s mother has died. Lena manages to convince Kaja that she is the right woman for her father. Lena goes looking for Marius, finds him by the lake, and they go to the island together. There, they clear the air. He advises her to finally tell her mother the truth: she doesn’t want to become an architect right now. Lena and her mother realize that they haven’t really talked to each other about what they actually want. When everyone gathers for a meal outside Sten’s house, Lena first spills a glass of wine, and then Moses appears in the meadow too, but Sten is no longer ruffled by it. Lena, Marius, and the children try to catch the horse while Sten and Helena share a glass of wine.
