The story
At 30, Irène seems to have everything needed for happiness: a well-paid job as a legal professional, an attractive apartment overlooking Paris’s rooftops, loving parents and friends, and a passion for dance. Yet she cannot sustain a romantic relationship. One lover cannot bring himself to leave his wife; another says he lives in Japan to avoid a real relationship; and another comes out. Much to her parents’ distress, Irène remains single and is described as awkward and embittered.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
At 30, Irène seems to have everything it takes to be happy: a well-paid job as a legal professional, a lovely apartment overlooking the rooftops of Paris, loving parents, friends, and a passion for dance. But she cannot manage to have a lasting romantic relationship. Either her lover cannot bring himself to leave his wife, he says he lives in Japan to avoid having a real relationship, or he comes out… Much to her parents’ despair, she is still single. Awkward and embittered, the young woman eventually crosses paths with a worker and, quite suddenly, ends up succumbing to his charm.
