The story
When Yves-Marie and Jacqueline are both nine, he asks her to marry him. She promises she will when he goes to the stars. Twenty-four years later, Yves-Marie has become a cosmonaut and turns up to remind Jacqueline of her promise. She is about to marry another man, so he asks her to give him one day before she says no.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
When he was 9, little Yves-Marie asked Jacqueline, who was the same age, “Marry me.” She replied, “I’ll marry you the day you go to the stars.” Twenty-four years later, Yves-Marie has become a cosmonaut. He shows up to remind Jacqueline of her promise. Seeing Jacqueline’s embarrassment—she is about to marry another man—Yves-Marie suggests, “Give me a try for one day before you say no...”
