The story
Actress Catherine Deneuve is invited to Lebanon to receive an award. The premise is invented, and the film unfolds like a documentary. A Lebanese actor welcomes her, and the two decide to travel to the village where Rabih Mroué is from, a place destroyed by Israel during the 2006 Lebanon War. Deneuve and Mroué play themselves, with considerable improvisation, and the film takes on the shape of a road movie. Their trip leads them into a dangerous situation in a landscape marked by the consequences of war.

Actress Catherine Deneuve is invited to Lebanon to receive an award. Starting from this invented premise, the film unfolds like a documentary. A Lebanese actor welcomes Catherine Deneuve; together, they decide to travel to the village where Rabih Mroué is from, which was destroyed by Israel during the 2006 Lebanon War. C. Deneuve and R. Mroué play themselves, with a great deal of improvisation. The film resembles a road movie. It shows the two actors in a dangerous situation because of the presence of anti-personnel mines and Israeli planes flying at low altitude. “Catherine Deneuve trembling conveys the uncertainty hanging over Lebanon, the everyday fear of the Lebanese,” according to Vincent Josse on France Inter.
