The story
Adrian, a millionaire from Hamburg, travels to Vienna to marry a countess. She is supposedly from a millionaire family, but is actually very poor. Their planned wedding is entangled in a carefully arranged intrigue.

Adrian, a millionaire from Hamburg, travels to Vienna to marry a countess. The bride is supposedly from a millionaire family, but in reality she is very poor. The meticulously planned wedding intrigue culminates in a duel, to which Adrian is challenged by his bride’s brother and in which he is seriously injured. However, Adrian is found by Josefine Mutzenbacher and her friend Zenzi, who help him. The millionaire devises a plan to take revenge on his intended’s family and decides to introduce Josefine and Zenzi to the finest society in Vienna.
