The story
Thirty years after graduating together, Nils, Andreas and Thomas—now in their late forties—are invited to a class reunion, though they arrive at the prospect from very different places. Family man Nils is experiencing a midlife crisis and feels increasingly disconnected from his wife and children. Andreas is still reeling from his teenage sweetheart’s breakup with him. Thomas, a successful DJ and longtime flirt, is eager for the party, but his hopes for a serious relationship with Linda are complicated when she entrusts him with her rebellious seventeen-year-old daughter, Lilli. As reunion weekend approaches, each man must face the changes and complications in his life.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Nils, Andreas and Thomas graduated from high school together 30 years ago. Now, the three men in their late forties are invited to a class reunion. They are at very different stages in their lives. Nils, for instance, is a family man going through a midlife crisis. His son Oliver finds him embarrassing, while his teenage daughter has eyes only for her boyfriend, Lenny. Nils also suffers from hemorrhoids and presbyopia, and his wife, Jette, can no longer stand his constant complaining. He has little interest in the reunion, since it will only make it even clearer to him that he has grown old. His classmate Andreas, who has just broken up with his teenage sweetheart, Tanja, has no desire to attend either. His ex ran off with Karsten, a couples therapist twenty years younger than she is, and Andreas is struggling with the breakup. Only Thomas is looking forward to the party. He is a successful DJ and has always been a ladies' man, already making plans to flirt over the party weekend. But then his dream woman, Linda, gets in the way. He wants a serious, monogamous relationship with her, and she foists her daughter Lilli on him. The rebellious seventeen-year-old takes every opportunity to hold up a mirror to the older generation. Although the class reunion becomes chaotic at times, Nils, Andreas and Thomas grow closer and gradually come to the conclusion that family, friendship and love are the most important things in life—and that their age is just right for them.
