Full plot (contains spoilers)
Ed is a distinguished English gentleman and a respected member of London’s upper class. He has devised and organized a robbery targeting the Royal Central Bank’s weekly gold shipment. To carry it out, Ed assembles a group of people above suspicion, all with clean records. After the robbery succeeds, the gold is immediately melted down and turned into a large anchor, which is hoisted aboard a ship bound for Gibraltar. The police, searching for the culprits, catch up with the ship in territorial waters, but the search turns up nothing. Having also evaded the police check, the gang enjoys the voyage to Gibraltar in peace. But during the crossing, the ship runs into a terrifying storm, and the captain, in a desperate attempt to save it, lowers the anchor—but the chain breaks. Everyone abandons the ship to make for Gibraltar, losing the loot forever.
