The story
Clémence, a sprightly 80-year-old widow, lives in a pretty country house and might otherwise be content. Each quarter, on the day she receives her pension, her nephew arrives with a group of unsavory friends and takes her money. He is a boy she took in as a child, but the repeated visits and financial exploitation have gone on for a long time. At last, Clémence stops putting up with the arrangement and decides to go on the offensive against them.
