Full plot (contains spoilers)

In northern Mexico, at the beginning of the 20th century, Reynaldo del Hierro (Eduardo Noriega) is shot and killed by Pascual Velasco while riding with his sons, Reynaldo and Martín. At the wake, his widow decides to instill in her sons a desire for revenge. Years pass, and Martín avenges his father’s death by killing Pascual. This act begins a series of murders involving the del Hierro brothers. With the musical theme “Dos palomas a volar” by Jesús Gaytán, Rodríguez and Garibay even venture into a kind of psychological Western, where Oedipal complexes, childhood fears, and a psychopathic gunman who reveals his innate murderous instincts (Julio Alemán) coexist without difficulty. Antonio Aguilar portrays Reynaldo del Hierro, an involuntary killer who wanders the desert with his brother and saves him from the gallows. Aguilar was, in fact, able to give his character different shades: he is a peaceful man who becomes a criminal pursued by the law, falls in love with the same woman his brother loves, and meets a tragic and inevitable end. As if that were not enough, Los hermanos del Hierro, whose surname evokes both hardness and error, brings together a spectacular cast featuring several of the tough actors of national cinema, including Pedro Armendáriz, Emilio “El Indio” Fernández, Víctor Manuel Mendoza, Ignacio López Tarso, David Reynoso, David Silva, and José Elías Moreno.
