After being dumped, a depressed, anxious man moves back in with his parents and reconnects with a woman he loved as a child.
The story
The story sets up a contrast between romantic-comedy expectations and real life. After his girlfriend dumps him, a man moves back in with his parents in Le Chesnay, where he is bored and described as depressed, anxious, rigid, embittered, sectarian and alcoholic. He encounters a woman who was the little girl he was madly in love with when he was nine, and hopes the familiar romantic-comedy pattern might lead to a beautiful, moving kiss. But his circumstances—and the behavior of his friends—complicate the prospect of a straightforward romance.
