Twelve couples’ intertwined relationships form a circular portrait of contemporary love, chance, attraction, and conflict.

The story

A narrative stroll through contemporary romantic relationships follows a succession of couples, shifting from one character to another rather than lingering on any individual. Across twelve linked pairings, the film explores how each person’s psychology takes shape in relation to others. Their connections unfold as a sequence of tableaux shaped by love and chance, with attractions, tensions, power dynamics, and conflicts linking one relationship to the next.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

This film is a narrative stroll through contemporary romantic relationships between men and women. It moves from one character to another without dwelling on individuals, while exploring their psychologies in relation to others. Twelve couples are examined in a crisscrossing sequence, a quasi-novelistic variation, a series of tableaux of the games of love and chance as they govern the world, with their tensions, attractions, dominations, and conflicts: Camille and Christian, then Christian and Caroline, Caroline and Philippe, Philippe and Louise, Louise and Jacques, Jacques and Carine, Carine and Marc, Marc and Pauline, Pauline and Alexandre, Alexandre and Sidonie, Sidonie and Patrick, Patrick and Camille once again, to close the circle.
