Full plot (contains spoilers)

Copywriter Daniel Hagenberger, a reserved, clumsy man who thinks he understands women, has little success with the opposite sex. On a holiday in Turkey, he meets the attractive Aylin Denizoglu, who, unexpectedly, takes an interest in him. The rude awakening comes when Daniel returns to Germany and meets Aylin’s family for the first time. Neither her parents nor her brother can be won over by his sensitive nature. Then Aylin’s good-looking ex-boyfriend turns up, and Daniel’s self-doubt gets the better of him. He feels unmanly and helpless, and becomes afraid that Aylin might leave him because of it. What’s more, whenever he tries to sleep with her or even marry her, she puts him off until later. In desperation, Daniel turns to Aylin’s brother, Cem, who is supposed to teach him how to be a real macho man. With a new outfit and newfound confidence, Daniel dives into the nightlife with Cem and flirts with Aylin’s cousins. His new manner earns him the respect of Aylin’s family. Even his colleagues barely recognize their Daniel, who stands up to his boss for the first time. Aylin, however, watches Daniel’s transformation with concern. After all, she has had bad experiences with macho men and loved Daniel as she first knew him, not the way he acts now. She tells him bluntly that her Daniel is gone and turns away from him. Daniel is stunned and wants to fight for their love, but his new way of life is no help now. His attempt to handle the breakup like a macho man only seems to work. By chance, he runs into Gaby, his first love from his youth, and enjoys winning her over again with his confident manner. Back then, she had turned away from him because he was too unmanly. Nevertheless, he painfully realizes how much he misses Aylin. He then sinks into self-pity, stops going out after work, drinks nothing but beer, and hopes every minute that Aylin will call. At work, he is so distracted that he doesn’t even seem interested in the presentation of his latest advertising campaign. His colleagues can no longer bear to watch Daniel in this state. They sit down with him and, in the manner of advertising experts, manage to “point him in the right direction.” Daniel realizes that he can win Aylin back only by lovingly asking her to forgive him, rather than fighting for her like a macho man. But Aylin is no longer at home. Daniel is sure he’ll find her where they first met: in Turkey. He asks Cem to drive him to the airport immediately, but the road there is closed because filming is underway. A new episode of Alarm für Cobra 11 is being filmed, and they get caught up right in the middle of it. Even so, Daniel manages to catch the plane and fly to Turkey. There, he meets Aylin on the beach where they had their first date. He sheds his macho act in front of her and confesses his love, so Aylin can’t help but forgive him and reconcile with him.
